Deepening our Christianity

the Monday Newsletter of Paul Prins

Edition #1 · 17 April 2023

Blessings Reader,

Do you feel it? The swift tide of time pulling you into its quick currents. Taking you away from the celebration of the cross and the resurrection. 8 days. It has been 8 short and long days. The swiftness of time’s current is relentless with one exception - when we choose to slow down, reflect, and join with our timeless and eternal Father.

There are more ways to reflect on the cross and the resurrection than there have been years since those recreation inducing events. These times in the presence and solidarity with Jesus just might do something to the deepest parts of us. They might reset our foundations. Foundations that allow the tides of time to break against our rest in the Lord. That we may return to our waking world with a timeless heart of love, compassion, and hope. Hope against what we might see, for all that is so close we’ll give everything of ourselves.

Let us not set down our crosses as the tides of time pull us from our Easter celebrations. Let us carry them to Christ, with Christ, to our ends, and to the Kingdom of God in our midst.

Also - yay for the first edition! Would enjoying hearing what you think!

Until Next Week

Sharing what I've come across from around the internet that may encourage or help you.

  • The Spire on Notre-Dame in Paris is going up: After the devistating fire the restoration work has reached a new milestone. The spire is starting to be installed on the church. This instagram account has been following the reconstruction & restoration efforts (related 7 minute video). The first image you can see the wooden base in place. The reopening (for worship and visitors) is scheduled for 8 December 2024.
  • Best 🥐 in Paris by Luis: This is a ~7 minute humorous video where Luis rates the top 5 croissants in Paris, during a recent protest against the pension reform here in France. Sharing it because humor can be good for us in the midst of conflict/strife.
  • We know Americans have become less religious. Surprising new data shows us where: Demographic data was released from a 2020 nationwide study. They compare it to the study data from 2010. Shows a general decline in religious adherence irrespective of political affiliation.

A Prayer for the Week to Come

May you hear the quiet voice of God upon the winds of your life. That His tenderness would soften your heart and spirit. Inviting you into a moment of quiet and calm. We can never guarantee nor promise how we might experience God's presence. But we hope and pray this week that God would be sweet and loving with us. Enriching our foundations in the same faith, hope, and love that chose to endure the cross.

Amen

Deepening our Christianity the Monday Newsletter of Paul Prins Edition #30 · 11 March 2024 Blessings Reader, Reflecting on Blessings "May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May His face turn toward you and bring you peace."Numbers 6:24-25 The Lord is generous to us. His grace, mercy, and love are lavished upon us in a way that breaks part of me as I try to comprehend it. It breaks me in such a beautiful way as I understand the places in my...

Deepening our Christianity the Monday Newsletter of Paul Prins Edition #29 · 4 March 2024 Blessings Reader, What is Hard to See Our sight is one of our strongest senses. We can often see things far before we can hear or smell them. Touching and tasting are deeply intimate in comparison to sight. There is proximity needed to touch and feel. Taste needs even more. We need it to enter our bodies for that sense to work. Sight is the sense that most often introduces and defines our world. It is...

Deepening our Christianity the Monday Newsletter of Paul Prins Edition #28 · 26 February 2024 Blessings Reader, Following your Love There is much talk in the Gospels about following Jesus. He explicitly tells us to take up our cross and follow Him. This is such a visual and physical first response. We know the story, and we know what happens Easter weekend. Jesus literally and physically takes up His cross, carries it to the top of Calvary, and is crucified upon it by the Romans. This brings...
